Lake Tanganyika This is the longest fresh water lake in the world (677km), also, its chain of lakes on the bottom of the Western Great Rift Valley which make second deepest (1433m), with over 350 species of fish which most are endemic. The lake is extremely old, isolation and stability have made it a wonderful evolutionary of fish populations. New species are being discovered which make it difficult to determine which has the highest diversity, Sport fishing is very popular here and catches include the goliath tigerfish and Nile perch. Also other activities like swimming and surfing. |
